This antique solid brass adjustable bearing corrector was made for the Marconi Company around 1906. It was used for readjusting from a relative to a True or magnetic bearing and appears to have been given as a gift to ships by the company. For those looking to include the new wireless telegraphy onboard, then the ability to know exactly where you were and where to look for a signal was surely important. As a promotional item it would not have been made in large numbers nor intuitively kept years later.
This is a great little addition for any display about Marconi and radio telegraphy. It measures 14 cm in diameter and has a good heavy weight to it. It is offered in very original condition and everything rotates smoothly as it should. To see another example in the Museum of Applied Arts & Sciences click here.
