This Thorn EMI Wren Executive portable computer dates to 1984. Only around 1000 of these machines were ever made before the small English company went bust and since it was considered by many to have been ahead of its time, is a rare and interesting survivor. With an aluminium body, plastic trim and textured finish this luggable was one of the last CP/M portables to go to market. This tidy example has been nestling since new with its original owner and is not only offered boxed, but comes with its soft carry case and lots of its manuals and installation disks as well. This makes it a perfect complete set up for a keen collector to restore (the enclosed original discs to get this fully running are almost rarer than the machine).
Please note this machine is being offered entirely as found, untested, and thus in non-working condition for display only currently. It has not been PAT tested or even plugged in because naturally you will need everything carefully checked over before attempting to switch on. I also haven’t tested the accompanying floppy discs in any way. Cosmetically it is quite tidy considering its age. There is a bit of wear to the paint on the case and one of the clips on the brown foam front cover is torn off.
