This rare British Micro ‘Mimi 803’ was a British z80 machine that emerged onto the scene around 1981. Aimed at the business market it was quite an advanced computer for its time, but like so many of its competitors vanished into obscurity nearly as quickly as it had emerged. There really is little written up about this machine on the internet and hardly any known in collector’s hands. However one previous worker via another site did confirm that it was named after the Company owner’s daughter ‘Mimi’ and was one of a small line that was produced. If I am interpreting the serial number correctly, this is only machine 122 from the 803 series.
This example is offered in good ‘working’ condition. It has been expertly repaired for me and uploaded onto Youtube by Jerry Walker and the first of his repair videos on this machine can be viewed below. The case has had two cracks to the case securely mended (although the marks are still visible). Because I have been unable to track down any of the original systems disks yet to boot it up fully, it has instead been tested as extensively as possible up to this point.
