Leitz Panphot Photomicroscope c1950

First produced by Leitz in the mid 1930s, the Panphot is still widely considered the finest and most versatile photomicroscope of its era. An expertly crafted piece of scientific apparatus, it was aimed primarily for professional biological or geological use and came with a host of accessories for you to set it up to your exact needs in the laboratory.

As a microscope it naturally employed the best optics around and as the camera is set into the same shaft you shoot exactly what you see. Being Leitz the engineering is superb throughout. To ensure the best lighting for your images the set up includes both a small standard tungsten bulb as well as a carbon arc system. It has space for 5 different colour filters and the top box could be angled to project the image onto the desk for hand copying as well.

This example dates to between 1938-55.

As you can see from the photos this rare and desirable photomicroscope is offered in very good original condition and comes with a range of accessories.
