The Jordana X25 was developed as a PDA (personal digital assistant) by Hewlett Packard in 2001 but was cancelled shortly before release in 2002. Codenamed ‘Calypso’ it was developed by their Australia team and incorporated a Linux system and StrongARM processor.
Since PDA’s were still somewhat in around the Millennium, they were reputedly hoping to release 30,000 of these machines into the US in time for Christmas. However technical problems such as the very slow java based graphical interface and lack of backlight, combined with the slowing down economy forced HP to cancel the project before release. In the end it has been recorded that less than 200 of these units were created for development, which were then given out to workers when the project closed. The x25 therefore is a rare and desirable machine for collectors today.
