Released in 1963 the Fi-Cord 202 reporter’s reel to reel recorder was a direct competitor to the infamous Uher 4000. Despite being built in Switzerland and offering an automatic recording level control, the 202 still sadly never quite matched its main competitor and sales dwindled. Although a relatively common machine to pick up today, this very complete working example has come straight from its original owner and as well as that great 1960s look is a nice machine to use as well.
The 202 takes 4 inch reels and runs at either 3 3/4 or 7 1/2 ips. It can be run off its 12v power pack or 14 (yes 14!) AA batteries. Since this example has been well cared for over the years and all seems to be working fine we have done nothing to it including replacing the belts. It comes in its fitted leather case with microphone cord (no mic sadly) as well as power pack and original spare battery holder.
