Description

In 1993 Swatch launched the world’s first range of ‘designer’ mobile phones on the TACS network. Available in 4 colours (blue, red, green and see-through) they were marketed at the young and the first phones to boldly move beyond the standard black colour. It was also the first phone to actively use rounded edges in the design.

Unlike its more famous watches, Swatch sadly missed the mark with this idea as there was no way to mix and match the covers. The phone was released in the UK with limited success (and Italy with a little more success), but ultimately failed.

These phones are great for display and educational purposes and have real investment potential into the future as so few boxed examples currently surface. We are offering a nice boxed green example as well as an even rarer boxed car-hands free kit (incase you want to bling up your car!). We don’t have the charger sadly so can’t tell if the phone powers up or not and although it is in good cosmetic condition overall, there is some dust behind the screen. The hands free kit is from Italy and the car charger is still sealed in its bag. The clear plastic has yellowed slightly but being such a nutty design anyhow this does not really show up.
