Description

Joseph Bramah is considered the father of hydraulic engineering and invented his highly influential hydraulic press in 1795. By applying Pascals principle of forces he opened up hydraulics to all sorts of industries who still rely on it to this day. His design consisted of a pump and press, and the pump was also modified for use as an early fire fighting device amongst other things.

This very early full-sized mobile Bramah pump dates to c1820 and is from a closed museum here in the UK. I really like that this example is on wheels as one of the key reasons Bramah’s design proved so universally successful was that it could be made small and portable enough for all users.

This pump is offered in good original condition. It has been recently repainted and a new wooden handle made. It is perfect for public display.
