This rare little framed portrait of J.M. Jacquard was created in silk using the Jacquard loom he invented. It commemorates his life and was created c1840s-50s. There are a few famous jacquard portraits in silk, two larger full body designs and then these waist up miniatures. This example is offered in its original mount and wooden frame.
