Philips TV – Original Advertising Artwork c1950

£125.00

This small group relates to the commercial artist Thomas Alfred Edwin Bowen and relates to Artwork carried out for the electronics firm Philips in the early 1950s.  The group consists of a printed 1949 Philips lamps catalogue and photo whose front cover was done by Bowen, an original Philips Television Advertising Artwork by him which I believe dates to c1950, and an original sketch again by Bowen for a Philips window display in 1954.

Of the group the yellow Philips Television advert is certainly the most visually striking and possibly the most interesting also as I think it was used (or intended to be used at least)  to promote the first Philips Television which was launched in 1949. At the time Philips were using the tag line ‘The Dependable Radio’ so this catchy image by Bowen served as a bridge for people to trust and check out their new Televisions too. The group is offered in original untouched condition with some marks and bumping to the pieces and the shop window sketch has a fold through the middle. This group will be sent flat.

Dimensions Television Advert:26 cm wide x 38 cm high;  Window Display Draft: 47 cm wide x 30 cm high.
