From what I can find online, this small blue plastic scale model of the T3 robotic arm was made for salesman at Cincinnati Milacron around 1980. At approximately 1:20th scale the piece moves and rotates functionally like the original so was good to show the flexibility of the product.
Although the full range of CM products were obviously made in miniature, the T3 (acronym for ‘The Tomorrow Tool’) is special today because it was the world’s first commercially available micro-computer controlled industrial robot. Designed in 1974 the T3 was first installed in several automotive plants including Volvo in Sweden. Its ability to be controlled by a regular micro-computer (rather than a bespoke computer) gave it unprecedented flexibility to be used and programmed by any size of business. As such the T3 was very influential and sold well down the years.
Naturally if you don’t have the space for the 2 tonne original of this iconic industrial robot, then this 9 inch version might suit instead!
Approximate Dimensions: 10cm wide x 9cm deep base x 21cm high on the vertical shaft.
This is offered in nice original untouched condition. All relevant parts move as they should. There are a few glue marks showing.
