This early and scarce two valve amplifier was produced by the English branch of the Western Electric Company. Under their ‘Weconomy’ brand this amp dates from between 1923-25. In 1925 the group were renamed STC. These small amps were created for use alongside the emerging crystal and valve radios of the time and as such bears the BBC approval mark. However they were probably also used for microphones as well. This example is marked ‘patent applied for’ in several places suggesting it may have been quite an early example.
Please see images for condition and please note I have not tested this item in any way. Basically it is in good original untouched condition but as you can see the Bakelite side dial is damaged.
This sale includes the two rare original Western Electric 4101DL valves. Both have been tested and glow nicely. At zero bias and 30v each measured 6-7 milli-amps so work fine.
